Chillin'

What day of the month is this?”
Uh, I think it’s Tuesday…no, Wednesday.”
No, I mean what date?”
I have no idea…hell, what month is this?”
This conversation, or something like it, has happened more than once on the Loop.  Time starts to feel kind of slippery out here.  We have noticed this has been magnified in the past week and a half or so since we landed in Key West.
I’m not sure if it’s the mild weather (high of 78 degrees, low at nighttime of 70), all the walking we have been doing around town, or just that we have the unusual Loop luxury of staying in one place for a few weeks.  Usually a stay this long has meant a trip home, bad weather, or worse, a repair to be done in the boatyard.  Key West is the first place we’ve just planned to chill for three weeks.  We’re about halfway through it…give or take a day or two.
Days here seem to all kind of run together.  Breakfast, usually on board.  Walk Carrie a mile to Yoga (no, I’m not ready to go into a 105 degree room and sweat for an hour and a half).  Walk back to the boat.  Do a boat chore or two before she returns.  Showers.  Maybe a light lunch at a harbor restaurant.  A walk around town.  A nap?  Maybe a ride around the harbor in the dinghy late in the afternoon.  Cocktails at 5:00.  Dinner sometime…in bed by 9:00.
The pace around here is just staggering…
